Growth, Yield and Profitability of Major Carps Culture in Coastal Homestead Ponds Stocked with Wild and Hatchery Fish Seed

Major carps, native freshwater fish in South Asian nations, are economically valuable species with high market demand. Coastal rural people can cultivate them their own seasonal, largely underutilized, small homestead ponds low input and understanding. However, the major problems production this region lack of quality carp seed appropriate culture techniques. Therefore, research was carried out on growth performance, survival rate, yield, feed conversion ratio (FCR), profit polyculture systems stocking hatchery-produced wild sourced located a coastal area along Bay Bengal. Three different treatments (T1–T3), each treatment three replications, were designed for culturing Gibelion catla, Labeo rohita, calbasu, Cirrhinus mrigala using two local hatcheries seeds (T1 T2), from Halda River (T3).
